According to the latest earnings report for the second quarter of 2018, the number of active users per month (MAUs) in June 2018 increased by about 70 million net from the same period last year, reaching 431 million. 93% of the monthly active users are mobile users. Revenue was $426.6 million, up 68% year-on-year; net profit attributable to Weibo was $140.9 million, up 92% year-on-year.

At 10 a.m. on July 4, 2019, Sina Weibo announced the launch of a two-month campaign to clean up vulgar information related to pornography, which was named the Blue Plan.

In 2019, the "anti-pornography and anti-non-pornography" Department launched a special crackdown on vulgar pornography in the field of online literature, investigated and publicly exposed the illegal activities of disseminating pornographic novels on Sina Weibo, and imposed administrative penalties.
